Light pipes sit on top of a Surface mount LED and channel all LED light exactly where it is needed. This eliminates the need to fix an LED to the front panel or to use a through-hole PCB LED indicator. The light pipes snap in or press fit onto PCBs after soldering, eliminating the need for high-temperature.

Until quite recently integrating a light pipe solution into an existing design was a custom proposition. Injection-molded polycarbonate or acrylic materials were used in conjunction with proprietary tooling to furnish application specific light pipe solutions. Flexible Light Pipe (FLP) approach has changed all of this. Not only does the FLP eliminate the need for customization and sub-optimal LED placement, it also offers versatility that designer's could previously only dream of. They now have the freedom to design and create innovative products without worrying about LED placement.
